A second hut

Scouting from our own buildings.

We're working towards a second hut, so the Group can run from buildings we own, instead of relying on space we have to rent week to week.

Why we’re building

The 63rd has grown. Our current Scout HQ is at capacity, so to keep all our sections running we’ve had to use rented space. That’s expensive, it isn’t always available when we need it, and it puts us in someone else’s plans.

A second building of our own changes that. We can run the weekly programme in spaces we control, plan camps and meetings around our own calendar, and stop pouring volunteer-raised funds into rent.

A space for the community too

Like our current hut, the new building will be available for community use outside section nights, supporting other groups in North Bristol that need affordable space.

Where we are

We’ve completed the pre-application stage with the planning authority. We expect to submit the full planning application in the summer of 2026, with a target of opening the new building in 2027.

How to support

The build is funded by a mix of grants, community fundraising and donations. Every donation is matched against named building costs so you can see what your contribution paid for.
